The England International initially joined the South coast outfit on a season-long loan last August after facing a rough four-year of career under the Reds.
The loan deal was agreed with Southampton in terms of the Liverpool striker finalizing a permanent deal to remain at the Saint Mary at the end of the spell.
Since joining from Burnley in the summer of 2015, Ings who played as a backup striker to Sturride and Firmino manged only four goals in his total 25 appearances for the Reds.
And while at Southampton on loan last season, the 26-year-old scored a total of eight goals in 25 outings and emerged the club's first choice striker under manager Ralph Hassenhuttl.
