Virgil van Dijk was faster than any other player in last season's Champions League

The Liverpool centre-back isn't known for his speed when compared to well known speed-stars in Europe, the likes of Raheem Sterling, Gareth Bale, Kylian Mbappe and other proven names.
But the Holland international, unbelievably, was timed running at a top speed of 34.5km per hour - faster than anyone else in the competition and seeing off Leroy Sane, Kyle Walker, and Kylian Mbappe.
Van Dijk's fastest sprint came near the closing of the first leg of Liverpool's semi-final clash with Barcelona at the Nou Camp, which they lost 3-0.
Barcelona launched a counter attack in the 92nd minute, and Van Dijk was required to sprint back into position to stamp out the threat.
Both Manchester City's Leory Sane and Kyle Walker emerged second and third fastest player in the competition with 34,4km/h and 34.2km/h respectively.
Red Star Belgrade's Nemanja Radonjic clocked 34.2km/h same as Walker while Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale completed the top five with a top speed of 33.8km/h.
