The Dutch youngster had also been a target for Ajax, Bayern Munich, PSV and Manchester United.
But the Telegraph now claims the teenager is due for his Liverpool medical on Wednesday as the Reds have won the race for his signature.
Van den Berg who plays as a center-back, made 16 first-team Eredivisie appearances for PEC Zwolle last season and he's considered one of the brightest young talents in Dutch football.
The report from the Telegraph says Liverpool wants to pay £1.8million for the 17-year-old while PEC Zwolle have concurred to the offer.
