Liverpool are one among six teams battling for De Ligt's signature this summer and they'll have to tear-up their wage structure to sign the Ajax captain - that's the claim of player's agent Mino Riola.

De Ligt’s has been favored to move to Barcelona in recent weeks, but the La Liga champions seems to have refused to up their bid to match Manchester United and PSG approach.

But Liverpool signing the Dutch defender means they will have to make him the highest-paid player in their history ahead of even Mohamed Salah and Van Dijk.

With Salah currently being paid £200,000 a week and Van Dijk only £150k, De Ligt will be due for a £236k weekly wages, and Manchester United and PSG have reportedly matched that figure, leaving the Reds to do the same.

Raiola was said to have favored De Ligt, playing alongside Netherlands team-mate Virgil van Dijk.

But, it appears, if the teenager joins Liverpool he'd be unaware of inviting dressing-room trouble by earning better wages than Jurgen Klopp's experienced stars and it would lead to several of the big names asking for their own wage packets to be improved.
