Liverpool suffered a 3-0 first-leg Champions League semifinal upset against Barcelona last week. Goals from Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi saw the damage done to Jurgen Klopp's in-form side.

Luis Suarez scored the opener against his former club, Messi followed up with a double, scoring from a rebound before netting a stunning freekick to put the Catalans three goals lead ahead of their second leg trip to Anfield.

Prior to the clash Jose Mourinho had told Liverpool how the Barcelona skipper can be stopped.

But Messi heroics during the game has now forced the former Manchester United boss who hasn't been his biggest fan over the years to exalt him high.

Mourinho told Russian Today: "Liverpool was brave in the approach. I don't think in the past 20 years many teams in the Champions League beat Barcelona in ball possession in the Champions League [regarding the Reds' 53% domination in ball possession].

"God of Football made it completely different. Of course (Barca) have a good team, phenomenal players, but that player is absolutely incredible."
