The Reds have to bounce back from one goal down during the first interval to wrap a full-time 3-1 victory against Southampton on Friday evening. Shane Long’s strike for the home side dealt an early deficit at St Mary’s, after which Naby Keita’s header leveled before half time.

Mohamed Salah had his chances of breaking a seven weeks goal drought when he ran the length of the Southampton half and clipped in a left-foot finish to edge Liverpool in front and Jordan Henderson coming from the bench added to the turnaround soon after.

The victory over the Saints now saw Jurgen Klopp's side floating at top of the League table with two points and one game ahead of Manchester City.

And Van Dijk is convinced their resilience is a sign of the team's belief in their ability to beat through any defence.

The defender told Liverpoolfc.com post match "The most important thing is to just keep on doing what we’ve been doing all season.

"We are always going to be dangerous with the players we have, with the way we play, and you saw it was always going to be difficult to defend against us for 90 minutes for them.

"There was [always] going to be some spaces, some opportunities, and you need the quality that we have as well to step up, and [it was] fantastic."

Each of Liverpool’s goals represented landmarks for the scorers.
