Liverpool are hoping to capitalize on Manchester City's setback when they face Manchester United on Wednesday in the Premier League - that's if the Red Devils can take points off the Cityzens in the clash.
A slip-down for Pep Guardiola's side means Liverpool are guaranteed League leaders with just three games left to end this season's campaign.
There have been a well know long-term rivalry between Liverpool and Manchester United, but 33-year-old James will put history to one side in the Manchester derby and cheer with the Red devils in victory - to the advantage of his Liverpool side.
"First time in my life," Milner said about his support for United in the Manchester derby.
"But I won't be watching. It's a bit of a waste of energy, willing the ball in the other goal.
"I can't do anything about it. I'll maybe put my phone away for a few hours and check it after. I've no idea what I'll do, maybe go out for some food."
Milner has played for Manchester United's three great rivals - Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester City - over a 17-year playing that have seen him rack up more than 600 senior games.
