Timo Werner latest - Liverpool contact RB Leipzig over player's contract

Liverpool are in contact with RB Leipzig over a potential summer move for Timo Werner

The 23-year-old forward has been on Jurgen Klopp's radar since last summer and recent report from German publication SportBild has claimed Liverpool have contacted RB Leipzig for updates on the player's future.

There are still pending contract extension talks for Werner who's current deal will terminate at the end of next season and the Budensliga club could be forced to sell for a decent price this summer.

RB Leipzig boss Ralf Rangnick earlier rubbishes claim that the forward has agreed terms with Bayern Munich through his agent.

Ragnick told reporters: "A possible agreement is impossible for 2019 [right now]. We would have to agree, and we are not.

"Nobody has approached us from Bayern. There will not be a case like Leon Goretzka and Robert Lewandowski between us and Timo Werner.

"This option does not exist and we do not need to talk about this scenario.

"Clubs that want him will report in the summer and then we will find a fair, mutually agreed solution.

"Everything else is not an option."
