Manchester City now have a ten-goal advantage over Liverpool and Guardiolar had call for his side to extend their five-goal lead prior to their 6-0 win over Chelsea on Sunday.
Liverpool slipped to second position on goal difference as Manchester City beat Everton and Chelsea, but a one game difference in the table could help Jurgen Klopp's men to go top again.
Prior to their clash with Chelsea, Guardiola answered question on whether the title race could come down to goal difference, the Spaniard said: "Yes. The first message is to win the game and the second one is if you can score, score, and if you can avoid conceding, do.
"The Premier League could go to goal difference, I agree, although we’re not going to say to the guys, today, we have to win 5-0.
"First, you have to win the game and then second try [to score a lot of goals], because it can happen [league being decided by goal difference]."
