Manchester City continue to put pressure on Liverpool after a 3-1 triumph over Arsenal on Sunday which saw Sergio Aguero scoring a hat-trick.
However, the Argentine's third goal could have been ruled out after the ball appeared to have made a contact with his arm before crossing the line.
But referee Atkinson awarded it a goal, leaving the Gunners two goals behind with fifteen minutes into the second half.
After the game Aguero however admitted it was a hand ball, the striker claimed he watched it on TV and saw it was a hand ball.
"I think it came off my chest, but now I see on TV it was a handball," said Aguero.
"It was important to win. The other day I scored early and we lost, today I am very happy."
Aguero's full time admission left some Liverpool fans fuming on twitter.
One fan wrote: “After his shocker at Anfield, Martin Atkinson 'rewarded' with the biggest fixture of the weekend? Yet another howler.
Another wrote: "The FA wants City to win the league it’s all written now. Handball for Aguero’s 3rd goal."
"Aguero handball, but of course it won’t be talked about because he’s ‘doing what’s best for the country," a third fan added.
