Wijnaldum has revealed he is currently playing with a sore knee after his man of the match display against Bournemouth at Anfield, where he scored a fine lobbed finish.
Jurgen Klopp had confirmed the midfielder suffered diarrhea and vomiting - days before the clash and was told by his doc not to play.
"Last night Gini was not in the team hotel," said Klopp.
"He had diarrhea and vomiting two nights earlier so he couldn't come to the team hotel.
"That's the news you get in the morning, before the last session of the week. Then he said after a couple of hours' sleep that he felt really good and could play, but the doc said he is still infectious so stay away.
The Dutchman however has spoken out on what led to his disgusted stomach, admitting it was brought up by a tablet taken to help cope with the knee issue that saw him miss Monday's match at West Ham.
"Thursday night I had a tablet from the doctor for my knee,” said Wijnaldum. “It was a tablet that could induce stomach pains.
"I took it and I had a pain and thought it was from the tablet. In the end I was vomiting and everyone was a little bit scared.
"I didn't train on Friday and I didn't sleep at the hotel either because they thought I might infect other players.
"The manager called me and said 'do you think you can play?'. I said I was as positive as I can."

Wijnaldum has emerged a significant character for Jurgen Klopp's midfield plan this term following Oxlade-Chamberlain injury setback and Coutinho departure last year.
