Lovren returned to his homeland for enhanced rehabilitation programme on the hamstring injury he sustained against Wolverhampton in January 7.

The Croatian defender missed the Reds training camp in Marbella this week and Jurgen Klopp revealed on Thursday that he has been planning without him ahead of Tuesday's Champions League round-16 first leg tie with Bayern Munich.

However, Klopp never insisted on ruling out the center-half from making the Reds lineup when he returns to Melwood on Saturday ahead of the big match.

"I don't want to rule it out, but I cannot really plan with it," said the Liverpool boss.

"He is not here for good reasons, because he cannot be part of training. We are back on Friday. Then from Saturday on, Dejan is back at Melwood and we will see. But, of course, we have to prepare it differently. He is not here (in Marbella) for good reasons, because he cannot be part of training.

"In the moment we prepare the game, and in this preparation Dejan is not involved. We have to find other solutions."
