Manchester City have received a major fitness boost ahead of their crucial tie with Liverpool
Liverpool are preparing for a crucial match against Premier League champions Manchester City on Thursday night and it looks the Citizens' ace midfielder Kevin De Bruyne’s will be available for the game.
De Bruyne, 27, was ruled out of City's side since November with a knee ligament injury and the midfielder returned in mid-December before suffering his latest setback.
However, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is confident that the Belgium star will be available for the clash with the current league leaders at the Etihad.
When asked about De Bruyne's fitness, Guardiolar replied:
"He trained today but tomorrow we need another check in the morning.
"He’s much better."
Guardiolar went ahead to assure City fans that his side will strive to cling to the Premier League title this season no matter the outcome of the game with Liverpool.
He added: The reality is clear. We are seven points down.
"This will be the second game of the second leg so there are a lot of points to play for. It is a big opportunity for us to reduce the gap.
"Our focus is the same. Everybody has been asking what will happen if we lose.
"We are going to try to make our game, to be there and be fighting for the Premier League for as far as possible."
We want them to have their best squad. We beat them in the Champions League with all their players and that's exactly what we will do on Thursday. We don't need them to have any room for excuses.
