Van Dijk has been backed by former team mate for a big money move away from Liverpool
Liverpool sealed a world-record move for the dutch man earlier this year, which is the most expensive buy for a defender in football history.
Since his arrival to Anfield the center-back has marshaled the Liverpool defence to be one of the best in the Premier League so far this season, the Reds have conceded just six goals in 16 PL games.
And Common thinks van Dijk should have been in the table of one the big money buyers in Europe.
"You could see how good he was straight away," Commons said.
"Virgil took us to another level. He had everything.
"He had to move on and left with everyone's blessings.
"I rate him alongside Sergio Ramos. Liverpool are a massive club but in terms of getting players, Madrid and Barca are above them.
"I can’t see why Real, Barca or PSG wouldn't come in for him."
Liverpool fired their way top- of the Premier League table with a comfortable win over Bournemouth at the Vitality stadium on Saturday and forced their way through to the Champions League knockouts after a 1-0 win over Napoli on Tuesday.
