Liverpool new signing has hinted on a move to his homeland in the future
The 27-year-old has told Blick he do hope to be back home at some point.
"Coming [back] to Basel is always an option.
"For my parents, it would be special if I came back to the FCB.
Shaqiri joined Liverpool on a low key summer move of £13million. Since his arrival to Anfield he has made eight Premier League appearances coming as a sub in five.
The Swiss international is however relaxed about getting more guaranteed match action under Jurgen Klopp.
Shaqiri told reporters: "I think in the end it is the coach's decision who is playing and against who.
"He will change the team against who we are playing and he chooses the team who he thinks is in the right moment to win games.
"In the end, if he decides to play you from the beginning, nice and good, but also if you are on the bench, try and come in and make an impact, it's also good.
"In the end, only 11 players can play and we have a big squad and a good squad. Everybody has to accept the decisions of the coach and until now it's going very good and we are in a good way.
"I changed teams and there are different mentalities and different visions, different goals.
"I have to adapt to the team and the most important thing is to enjoy the football here.
"The coach wants me to enjoy the football, also to give my talent on the pitch which is of course in the offensive [areas] - to try to make an impact and create some good chances for the team.
"You can't compare this team to the Bayern Munich team I played in - different types of players, different coaches. But of course the intensity at the highest level is the same.
"When you want to be a top team, you have to be on the highest level to make your best performances."
