Mohamed Salah has expressed his feelings over a night of disappointment at the Uefa Player of the Year award
The Liverpool forward was nominated for the price after his sensational debut season for the club where he scored 44 goals and fired the Reds to the Champions League final.
Others who were nominated for the accolade include, Luca Modric and five-time ballon d'or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.
Mohamed Salah fell out of victory despite his brilliance last season for the Reds while Luca Modric was made winner with regards to his impressive World Cup and Champions League campaign.
However it was a lost for Salah, the Egyptian spoke about his pride of being the first of his national to be part of such an award.
“When you do something for the first time, nobody has done it as an Egyptian before, something great, it's something I have to be proud of,” Salah said.
“There are 100million Egyptians who see me as a role model.
"That's something I have to be very proud of.
“Sometimes you feel pressure because of that but it also makes you work harder to do your job better and better and better.”
