Guardiolar instruct his players on how to stop Liverpool's front trio

Pep Guardiolar educate Manchester City players in a brief lecture, on how to stop Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino

Last season in the Premier League Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola engineered a 5-0 win over a poor defensive Liverpool side at the Etihad Stadium in September.

However Liverpool turned the table round in the Champions League as the Cityzens where crumbled home and away in a 5-1 aggregate score.

A documentary series has exposed Guardiolar secrets on how he triumphed over the Reds in September 2017.

In the opening episode, the City manager is seen instructing his players and staff in a small lecture theatre ahead of their Premier League match against Liverpool.

The players were seen sitting on large leather seats, giving attention to Guardiola as he moves magnets on a whiteboard to convey his tactics, pointing out how the Liverpool front trio can be closed.

"Today I'm going to explain to you what they (Liverpool) do in attack, with the ball,"said Guardiolar.

"It's a team who is so good at running - runs in behind - because the men up the pitch are so important.

"Just focus today, when the ball is outside, close the channel. Mane and Salah, play in those positions, so when the ball is here (midfield) they make the move or put the ball here (the channel).

"They are so fast. Even when the (City) full-back has to go, try to make that movement (out wide) to close here, the play here (inside). Okay?"
