Former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher has slammed Anthony Taylor for not disallowing Sadio Mane second goal
Liverpool started their 2018-19 Premier League campaign on Sunday with a 4-0 win over West Ham United at Anfield.
Mohamed Salah opened the scoring in the 19th minute, while Mane’s double on each halves, and Daniel Sturridge late finish sealed the victory for the Reds.
Mane scored his second of the game after Roberto Firmino produced a short pass with other two Liverpool players spotted ahead of the ball.
But former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher who now works as an expert on refereeing decisions, has insisted Mane’s second strike should not have been counted by referee Anthony Taylor.
"He is offside," Gallagher told Sky Sports.
"He starts in an offside position, that's the clue, but because he comes back, it is more difficult for the assistant and he has lost focus of where Mane has come from.
"He's seen the end product rather than the starting product.
"He should be photosnapping in his mind where the start position was but unfortunately, he hasn't and when Mane gets the ball, he is level and that's what he has focused on.
"It should have been offside."
