Robbie Fowler express doubts over Liverpool £175m spending spree

Robie Folwer has ticked Manchester City for Premier League glory despite Liverpool heavy spending this summer

Liverpool have signed Fabinho, Naby Keita, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alisson this negot period with a bulk spending of nearly £175million.

Despite majority of Red fans are pleased with the huge spending, Liverpool legend Fowler doubted the dealings done so far.

He told The Mirror: “Like everyone at Liverpool, I’m excited at the club paying out a world-record fee for a goalkeeper – but let’s not get carried away believing the long wait to win the title is over.

“Yes, Alisson is world class. It’s a strong statement of ­intent and Reds fans are buzzing. But Manchester City are still the team to catch.

“I’m thrilled at Liverpool’s spending during the summer, bringing in Alisson, Fabinho, and Naby Keita.

“But City finished 25 points clear of ­Liverpool when they won the Premier League title in May. It would take a huge swing to turn that round.”
