Jordan Henderson missed a penalty during England vs Colombia penalty shot out
The Three Lions appeared to be on their way out of the tournament when Henderson missed his spot kick in the shootout following a 1-1 draw after 120-minutes of play.
The shootout later turned into England's favour after Mateus Uribe penalty hits the woodwork and Carlos Barca had is effort saved by Jordan Pickford leaving Eric Dier to seal the victory.
Former Arsenal star Wright saw the game and has criticised Liverpool Captain Jordan Henderson spot-kick tactics.
“When you’re watching a penalty shootout, you look for things that people do,” he said on ITV.
“When Jordan was coming up and keeping the ball up, it just worried me. I just think ‘no’.
“It might be something to do with steadying the nerves and that.
“But I was thinking I’d rather see him with the ball focusing on that.
“He’s doing the keepy-uppies, it sent the wrong (message) to me and then he missed it. It really frightened me.
“You look for things like that when people are taking penalties.
“But, like I say, it doesn’t matter really now.”
England will hope to book a place in the semi-finals this Saturday when they face Sweden in the quarter-finals.
