Liverpool reportedly agree £62m deal to sign Ligue 1 playmaker

Reports in France has claimed Liverpool have completed a deal to sign Lyon's 24-year-old playmaker Fekir

French radio RMC reported during Liverpool's match at Chelsea on Sunday that the Reds had agreed a deal to sign the 24-year-old attacking midfielder.

According to the report Liverpool will pay £62m in addition to a number of bonuses for Fekir, who scored 17 goals in Ligue 1 this season as well as laying on a further seven assists.

The report also claim that the Reds are keen on Barcelona winger Dembele, following the £135m star’s difficult first year at the Nou Camp.

Arsenal are also said to be targeting the midfielder and Klopp recently said he is planning to improve the depth within his Liverpool squad this summer.

But Interestingly, former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier has been involved in the deal, having become an adviser to Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas.

Houllier travelled to England a few weeks ago to finalise the deal, and Fekir will be joined by his younger brother, Yassin Fekir, at Anfield.

Fekir has spent the entirety of his professional career at Lyon, where he has made 150 appearances, scoring 56 times. The France international also has 10 caps to his name.

Lyon owner Jean-Michel Aulas has today, though, denied that Fekir is on his way to Anfield.

He said: ”We have had no contact with Liverpool today. Nabil Fekir is here. We hope to keep him and have him playing the Champions League with us next year.”
