Philippe Coutinho reveals Liverpool link with German forward

Philippe Coutinho tells Barcelona team mates Liverpool are set to sign Timo Werner

Liverpool lost Coutinho to Barcelona in January with the Brazil international moving to the Nou Camp in a huge £142million deal.

As a result, La Liga rivals Real Madrid are set to strengthen massively with the club enduring a problematic season under Zinedine Zidane.

RB Leipzig star Werner has emerged as a target for Los Blancos with Karim Benzema set to be shown the door and Borja Mayoral yet to hit his stride.

But Spanish outlet Don Balon say Coutinho has told Barcelona players that Werner is likelier to be part of Liverpool’s squad for next season.

The Germany international is a hot prospect.

He is expected to lead the line for his country at the World Cup in Russia and has drawn comparisons with legendary forward Miroslav Klose.

Werner has hit 37 goals from 66 games for Leipzig following his arrival from Stuttgart in 2016.

And Liverpool, Don Balon say, are determined to sign him.

Jurgen Klopp is on the lookout for another forward despite the fine form of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.

The German has supposedly shortlisted his compatriot and instructed the Anfield hierarchy to make sure they secure his signature.

The Reds reportedly plan to use funds from Coutinho’s own sale to broker the deal.
