Liverpool plot to hijack Manchester United deal for Talisca

Liverpool to battle Manchester United for Talisca signature according to reports

It was rumoured earlier this week that Manchester United were closing in on a deal for the 24-year-old Brazilian, thought to be around £35million.

But Turkish newspaper Fanatik claim Liverpool are now eyeing a summmer move for the attacking midfielder.

Talisca has scored 16 goals in all competitions on his season loan stay at Besiktas from Benfica.

He has been on Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho’s radar for some time.

Mourinho tried to sign him when at Chelsea in 2014 but was unable to do so due to lack of a work permit.

He’s been tracking his progress ever since.

“They say Talisca is unknown, but he is only so unknown because he's only not playing in England because he doesn't have a work permit,” Mourinho said in 2014. “If he had one, he would be here!”

Talisca was an unused substitute as Brazil beat Russia 3-0 on Friday.

It was the first time he has been called up to the national squad though could force his way into Tite’s plans ahead of the tournament.

And despite not starting in the clash against Russia, Talisca could be in the line-up for Brazil’s match against current world champions Germany on Tuesday.

"I want to give all the athletes opportunities right up until the end," Brazil coach Tite said.

"The final roster for World Cup was not released yet because everybody is still being evaluated."
