Keita completed a medical at Melwood last summer after Liverpool had agreed a fee of £48 million which could rise up next summer.
RB Leipzig has failed to make it through the UEFA Champions League group stage finishing third in the group G with three points behind Porto.
The failure of qualify for the knockout stages will give Liverpool the boost in bringing Keita to the Premier League this January since Liverpool have made it through to the next round in the Champions League.
German football expert lee prince who spoke to Express Sport “Firstly, don’t get carried away – at the minute it’s only a slim chance and there are no agreements in place, except the one for Keita to move next summer.
“But there’s always been talk that, depending on Leipzig’s domestic and Champions League progress, Liverpool could pay a further premium to get the midfielder early.”
Liverpool reportedly agreed a deal for keita last summer but on a basis that he can only move to Anfield next summer window that kicks off in June next year.
