Boss Jurgen Klopp has claimed he knew Salah would shine in Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp insists he was never in doubt about Mohamed Salah's ability to light up Liverpool's already frightening attack force.
When Salah joined Liverpool in the summer, most were sceptical after an less than successful first spell in the Premier League spell with Chelsea in 2015, which was littered with loan spells away from Stamford Bridge.
The Egyptian, signing a five year contract at Anfield after one season with Roma, has provided a slight distraction from Klopp's glaring defensive issues with his goal scoring form of late, with his brace in Liverpool's 4-1 victory over West Ham at the London Stadium testament to that.
And Klopp concurred, claiming he had faith in the winger despite concerns surrounding the deal.
"We were sure he can help us,' Klopp told Liverpool's website. 'Michael Edwards, Dave Fallows and Barry (Hunter), they were really in my ear and were on it: 'Come on, come on, Mo Salah, he's the solution!".
'When you have 20 players on the table, different players, it's difficult to make an early decision, but we all were convinced about it so could make the early decision so we could really get him. He's a fantastic person, a nice lad and a really good football player.
Klopp also admitted he has been been surprised by the 25-year-old's second top flight spell.
'I didn't think if he can score 12 goals or whatever in 17 games [but] I hope he's not finished now,' Klopp added.
'That would be nice, if we talk after the season about different numbers - and both numbers should be much higher.'
