Liverpool defender joins Crystal Palace in a permanent deal

Mamadou Sakho has finally join Crystal Palace for a fee of £26 million

Liverpool have accepted a £26million bid from Crystal Palace, despite wanting closer to £30m.

Sakho spent the second half of last season on loan at Selhurst Park and played a crucial part in Palace avoiding relegation last season.

And Palace have been after his permanent signature all summer long with Jurgen Klopp not including Sakho in his plans at Liverpool.

The Merseyside club were holding firm on their valuation for the defender and there were fears a deal may not get over the line as the transfer deadline drew near.

Palace had reportedly switched their attention to Manchester City’s Eliaquim Mangala as a back-up.

But Liverpool finally accepted Palace’s final bid with just hours left of the transfer window.

And Sakho has revealed to Sky Sports News he is delighted to be back at the south London club.
“I’m happy,” he said. “I’m happy to be back.”

In the eight games Sakho played for Palace last season, they kept four clean sheets and lost just twice as Sam Allardyce lead them to safety.
