The Reds were said to be closing in on a £26m deal for the Brazilian, branded the 'new Ronaldinho' in his homeland.
However, according to Zero Hora, Luan is close to signing a new contract with Gremio.
The Reds finished the season in fourth, just one point above fifth-place Arsenal after a final-day win over Middlesbrough.
