Liverpool could be favorites to sign Aubameyang if they clinch Uefa Champions League spot this season

Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang says he is considering leaving the German club this summer.

When asked today about his future, Aubameyang told RMC:
"I am considering a move away in the summer. I need to see what options there are. A lot of people would like to see me in England. This is not necessarily the league that attracts me the most [but] it would allow me to develop further".

Liverpool have been constantly linked with Aubemeyang over the 18 months, and last week, BVB Director Michael Zorc admitted:

"Everyone has his price, and if an offer comes in [for Aubameyang], we will sit down and discuss it".

Alas, when asked in January about a summer transfer to Liverpool, Aubameyang told reporters:

"Nobody can foresee the future. It's possible that a club could reach an agreement with Dortmund in June and I'll go [but] I do not think that [a move to Liverpool] will happen".

In the recent past, Aubameyang has hailed Liverpool as a 'special' club, so why is he seemingly not interested in joining the Reds? There are several possibilities:

* Running himself into the ground under Klopp (again) doesn't appeal.

* After seeing the struggles of fellow Dortmund alumni Henrik MkHitaryan and Shinji Kagawa, he isn't interested in playing in the Premier League.

* He has bigger ambitions for himself, like playing for Madrid or Barca.

* When it comes to paying top salaries, Liverpool just can't (or won't) compete with Europe's biggest clubs, and Aubameyang may have his sights set on a prohibitive payday.

It's also possible that Aubameyang thinks that Klopp isn't interested, but quite why that would be the case is anyone's guess. If Liverpool qualify for the Champions League, the Reds will surely become a far more attractive destination, for Aubemeyang, and a whole host of other top players.
