Coutinho extend his contract with Liverpool

Brazilian agrees new long-term contract, which will come into effect from this summer

Philippe Coutinho says it is a great honor to sign a new long-term deal with Liverpool that will take effect from 1 July.

The 24-year-old Brazilian, who joined from Inter Milan in January 2013, has become a key part of the Liverpool first team, making 122 Premier League appearances, scoring 26 goals and claiming 27 assists.

"I signed this new contract to stay here for a few more years because it’s a great honour for me," he told liverpoolfc.com. "It gives me great happiness because I was welcomed here with open arms by everyone at the club and the supporters right from my first day."
Coutinho recently returned to the Liverpool side after an ankle injury and has scored five PL goals this season.
He is next due to be in Premier League action at home to Chelsea on 31 January.
