Six Clubs Reportedly Chasing Sakho Signing

Mamadou Sakho’s time at Liverpool is at its end and the club will seek to move him in January. A permanent deal is preferred, and the club is seeking around £12M for him, a reasonable fee for a player of Sakho’s quality but also a solid return for a player who clearly isn’t in Liverpool’s plans.
None of that is open for debate. The only question now is whether another club is willing to match the valuation and that Sakho sees as an appealing destination given the French defender is now 26 years old and is on record as wanting to move to a club in the upper echelon of European football.
And according to France Football, at least, there is currently a five-club shortlist of interested potential suitors. In France, Paris Saint-Germain and Lille are said to be interested; in Italy, both Inter and AC Milan are considering a move; and in England, West Bromwich Albion remain interested.
On paper at least, given Sakho’s desire to play high level football and reestablish himself in the French national team, the Milan clubs would seem most appealing. A return to PSG, if he can be convinced he would now have a starting place there, could also tempt him. Lille and West Brom seems less likely.
Mamadou Sakho isn’t in Liverpool’s plans, and it seems in everybody’s best interests to find him a new home when the transfer window opens in January. Hopefully, a move that can satisfy both Liverpool and Sakho can be completed in short order.
